Hammy's right. As per the MotP, they'd take either 2 or 5 points of real damage per round, dying when they'd reach 0 hit points. Certain undead who are sensitive to sunlight would likely take more.

In the second one of the Paul Kidd novels (white plume mountain etc.), an avatar of Lolth is tricked into a portal that leads to the positive energy plane - take cover, she's gonna blow!

Here's a thought on that. In essence non-intelligent undead are actually magic items if you think about it. Bear with me... this string of logic works on all undead. So... if you've ever played "A Paladin in Hell" or looked through Manual of the Planes then you know that the farther a magic item is removed from it's home plane the weaker it gets (except in the case of a Sword of the Planes). Since the Positive Energy Plane is as far as you can possibly get from the Negative Energy Plane I'd imagine that all Undead would just drop dead instantaneosly as their connections to the Negative Energy plane (and thus the energy that sustains their Unlife) have been totally severed. Any Negative Planar Energy would instantly be overwhelmed by the Positive.

They are renewed.

Generally, this involves very rapid decay of the physical form with spontaneous generation of living material (beatles, various colorful fungi, flowers, worms, what have you), accompanied by pyrotechnic immolation of the shell of negative energy that once housed thier soul. Generally the blast of radiance is strongest through windows on the soul - the eyes and mouth, and to a lesser extent the tips of the fingers.

In any event, the undead ceases to exist as an entity within a few seconds.

Only two of them... John Lennon and George Harrison aren't "living material" any more.

That's second edition, they didn't include that in third edition.
