newbie DM spells and dying question

Ok, if an NPC or PC dies, do the spells he or she cast prior to dying keep going. Such as charm person, obscuring mist or summon monster.
Do these spell effects keep going even if the spellcaster is killed?

Thanks for the help! :)

Unless their duration is 'Concentration', obviously. :D

glass.
Right :)

Follow up question:

Can a spell caster cast a spell to an area they do not have line of sight to but do have line of effect. For example:

Casting Summon Monster to an area on the other side of a fog that you can not see but you know is there?
Or without line of effect, casting something to the other side of a closed door?

I read this:

Effect: Some spells create or summon things rather than affecting things that are already present. You must designate the location where these things are to appear, either by seeing it or defining it.
Thanks!
