Dungeons and Dragons: Swimsuit Edition

Disclaimer: This thread is not intended nor designed to be derogitory or insulting. Please do not make assumptions that its about exploitation or any other negative attitude. The thread -may- very well attract hoots and hollars, however, in the previous thread of this nature, it was largely in good taste, and roughly equal to both sides. Case in point: The asexual illithids in speedos were drooled over more than any buxom half-elf.
End Disclaimer. Huff.

Now then, to the thread, heh.

There are a number of common occurances these days that have provided amusement, and occassionally creepy thoughts, for many people. Swimsuit issues. Ignoring Sports Illustrated (Which is blatant super-soft porn), many comic companies have produced 'Swimsuit Issues' of their various characters female AND -male-, and in the most respectable cases, in equal numbers. Considering the ever-presence of scantly clad heroes, be it the chainmail bikini, or the furry loin cloth, and the numerous monsters, some humanoid, some not, that we all know and love... I propose that some company or group, be it WotC, the Dragon Magazine publishers, or just some random group of artists produce some paper back of some sort called "D&D: Swimsuit Edition". The Player's Handbook, The Dungeon Master's Guide, the Monster Manual, and many many suppliments have much to add to this. From the classical archtype characters (Think: Krusk in surfer gear), the PrCs (Does the Black Guard swim with that stupid helmet?), and of course, the monsters (Illithids in Speedos: There's nothing finer), all have gobs of snicker-worthy material that can be used to bring a few laughs, and a few bucks, to many a person.

Whether or not anything is actually printed, there's plenty of jokes to be made on this, as can be seen in the 200+ posts on the thread begun of this a while back (Includes a dozen or so pieces of humorous art from various sources, of course, starring the beach-bound illithids), which can be found >HERE <.

And, I'll note, I'm sorry if this sounds a bit flat for a humor-related post, but it took a great deal of effort to get people to realize this has squat to do with sexism, and everything to do with jolly good fun.

Life's a beach, dice it up.

That's Latin for "cool"
The next issue of Asgard will have exactly this.

::cough::

It will also a feature an article about five "axiomatic weapons" -- items of epic power that represent a concept -- written by one of the most promising talents of the 21st century (just ask my Mom!)

Great minds think alike?

Hrmn.. I just hope they're smart enough to make it equal amidst the sexes, lest there be issues.

Since you're on the other board, you may consider posting that fact there as well. *pokes the WotC boards with a stilleto of shocking* Move, blast you!

Oh, and hey, congrats.

There's a pic of said Speedoey squid-person on the link I aimed at, and I've got one I can email on top of that. Heh.

Just think what you could do with some garlic butter.

HMmm. Medusa in a Thong. It's stunningly stoning. ;)

Frost Giant in a speedo...Oh dear. o_O

Hmm... Pale Master/Mistress with a skull bikini?

Do we get any Devils/Demons in human flesh bathing suits? Succubi-G-String! Woo.

I don' tknow about you, but I want to see the Orc in Pie trunks. :)

And, of course, the Kobold in shorts and tank.

The author of the swimsuits article--myself--would like to apologize that none of the artists of that article actually drew males. All the artwork is on a volunteer basis, and there were no males. Sorry.

There is one guy on the cover, but he's accompanied by 4 women. And it was by a female artist.

The article itself is supposed to be fair to either sex, but the same cannot be said for the obviously dirty-minded artists. :)

Don't worry. If this becomes an annual thing (and Lord, let's hope not), I'll make sure to only accept males in swimsuits for next year.

That's too bad, but hey, thanks for actually doing something like this.

Yeah, I expected it would be female-focused... I don't have any particular -need- for a buncha guys running around in tight swim trunks, but since my notion in this is humor rather than actual eye candy (I drew an Ettin in a one-piece, after all), my biases are lacking, heh.

Just the same, can't wait to see what you've got, Wickett. Let's hope other publications take the hint as well. This would be a great money-making and advertising method, if nothing else, if done tastefully.

Well there goes that idea. ;)

I'm just disappointed that we couldn't use the iconics, as we had originally planned. Doing so would have violated the D20 license, sadly. Ask Russ if you want the details why.

Ah well, this doesn't preclude some future Iconic Swimsuit Goodness. It just won't be in a D20 book.
