If Wizards of the Coast limits its Dungeons & Dragons output to a steady flow of products, the Dungeon Masters Guild amounts to a constantly rushing fire hose. Gamers can find a wealth of polished products on the DMs Guild, many of which feature original art and pro-quality design. But a newcomer might just as easily drown in generic and amateurish material. For M.T. Black, an Australia-based DMs Guild bestselling creator, the search for quality material on the guild pays serious dividends, especially for fans who get antsy waiting months for the next official release.
Daring Entertainment have been producing support material for the Savage Worlds system for a number of times. Probably best known for their War of the Dead adventures and campaign setting of survival during a zombie apocalypse and the worlds that is born from the ashes. They have also played with superheroics before and this new project, Super Powers Unleashed, sees them return to the genre along with the Little Tin God Mega-Adventure.
Axon Punk: Overdrive has just launched on Kickstarter. Combining hip hop and classic cyberpunk the project aims to “synthesize a tabletop roleplaying game where players improvise, collaborate, and develop a community together to oppose corporate oppression in the gritty megacities of 2085.”
I considered filling this lede with as many revolution jokes as word count would allow. I decided against doing that. Revolution D100 is the latest entry into the already busy marketplace of percentile-based games inspired by the various works from the history of Chaosium and derived from the SRDs that Mongoose Publishing has released upon the world. Published by Alephtar Games, Revolution D100 is a multi-genre system akin to the wonderfully robust Big Gold Book (the fan nickname for the generic Basic Roleplaying Game (BRP) book published by another incarnation of Chaosium a few years back, and compiled and designed by Jason Durall and Sam Johnson).
The latest Unearthed Arcana from Jeremy Crawford and again featuring guest writer Robert J. Schwalb introduces a number of feats which make you better at skills. Each increases the skill's primary ability score, doubles your proficiency bonus, and gives you a little bonus ability. "This week we introduce new feats to playtest. Each of these feats makes you better at one of the game’s eighteen skills. We invite you to read them, give them a try in play, and let us know what you think in the survey we release in the next installment of Unearthed Arcana."
After last week's diversion into the Holisim Special episode, we're back to the main storyline in Turn Order: Warped, the official WOIN sci-fi weekly livestreamed game! In Guns & Chainsaw Pedicures, the crew continues their shopping in Cosimo, gearing up for their next big adventure. Join GM of Doom "wacksteven" and the crew of the Black Fang in their intrepid science-fiction adventures! As always, you can get video or audio version of the show - simply subscribe to the YouTube channel or to the official podcast! Or, of course, you can watch the show live on Twitch as it goes out every Saturday! Note that the show features adult language.
Here at EN World, I will be discussing all-ages tabletop role-playing games, board games, or card games. Does it engage the players at the kids’ gaming table? Would it cut it at the adults’ table? Is it genuinely fun for every age? FirstFable is a tabletop RPG designed to introduce 8- to 12-year-olds to fantasy role-playing. Written by Matthew McFarland and developed by Sean Patrick Fannon for OneBookShelf, Inc. (owners of DriveThruRPG and RPGNow), it contains the character creation process, Challenge system, advice to keep the players engaged, a print-and-play adventure, in-game rewards, character sheets, and all for the perfect price – free!
We're nearly two weeks into this Kickstarter, and we're doing phenomenally well! I thought you might enjoy a few photos of my copies of A Touch of Class. As I mentioned on the main Kickstarter page, the book is finished and ready to go out as soon as the Kickstarter ends. No waiting around for this one! 7 new classes in the full-colour softcover book, and 45 new subclasses in 19 bonus PDFs, for 5th Edition!
The Dread Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog from Monty Python and the Holy Grail is legendary among tabletop gamers. It turns out that the diabolical rabbit has precedent in medieval manuscripts before it was finally imported to tabletop role-playing games.
Becoming more fond of Theme Weeks, I decided this week should feature 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons products. While some may feel the release schedule of official Wizards of the Coast products isn't what they're used to (or what they'd prefer), it's important to note that there's a huge amount of material for the latest edition of the World's Most Popular RPG from both established publishers and super-fans with excellent design instincts and an abiding passion for the game.
Welcome back to our weekly look at tabletop roleplaying game, and accessories, crowdfunding roundup! Each week we’ll be looking at a few campaigns currently running that have caught our eye as well as occasionally speaking to some of the creators about their campaigns, or looking at some of the ‘behind the scenes’ business aspects of putting together, launching, operating and then delivering a crowdfunded project. If you have anything you’d like us to cover, or questions about anything we talk about, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or contact me directly.
Green Ronin Publishing have announced the creation of a new fiction line to debut this year. Headed by Jaym Gates (Strange California anthology, Eclipse Phase: After the Fall) Green Ronin aim to include novels, anthologies, and both stand-alone and serialized short fiction, tied to the rich worlds of many of their tabletop roleplaying properties. Early releases will include fiction set in the romantic fantasy world of Aldea from the Blue Rose Roleplaying Game and tales of superheroic adventures set in the world of Earth-Prime from Mutants & Masterminds.
High Adventure Roleplaying (HARP) was born in 2003 in a desire to offer the slick combat table approach of Rolemaster in an easier-to-digest faster-to-play format. Despite wary detractor’s concerns the final product bears only a cursory semblance to its more complex and detailed cousin.
Battle undead and demonic horrors ravaging post apocalyptic Earth 25 years after The Rise in Apocalypse The Risen roleplaying game for 5th Edition and Pathfinder!
With The Making of Original Dungeons & Dragons: 1970-1977, Wizards is going back to the roots of the game, presenting material other histories have not.
For its first book of D&D's 50th anniversary year, Wizards is going big with a multiverse-spanning, multiverse-threatening adventure where players will face off against one of the game’s most legendary villains.
