The reviews for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, D&D's first official adventure set in the Feywild, are out. Since TWBtW is also the first official adventure designed so that it can be resolved without any combat if desired, making it something new for the game, you might be wondering how other reviews stack up next to my assessment.
In numerous interviews promoting The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, Chris Perkins mentioned that DMs would have guidance on how to create their own Feywild Domains and ruling archfey. What was rarely mentioned was that such material was not in the new hardcover book.
The Wild Beyond the Witchlight isn't just Wizards of the Coast's latest Dungeons & Dragons adventure. It's the first official, full-length adventure from WotC set in the Feywild. While often mentioned, the counterpart to the Shadowfell has gotten much less attention through the editions. Domans of Delight Ravenloft/Barovia, Falkovnia, etc. have been around for years as have their Darklords...
D&D players have long been called “nerds” so it's not a shock that Wizards of the Coast decided to partner with the Ferrara Candy Company to create original Dungeons & Dragons adventures that you can get for free by uploading receipts that show purchases of NERDS Candy®. The promotion involves six 1st-level, solo mini adventures followed by a final adventure for multiple players. WotC sent me...
Previously, Beadle & Grimm's has created luxury adaptations of the full-length D&D adventure books like their sets for Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden and their Legendary Edition of Curse of Strahd. This time Beadle & Grimm's is tackling Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, which is both a setting book and a guide for how to create horror campaigns. If you think that means B&G has scaled...
Now that you've had time to read my review of Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, and the book officially arrived in game stores on May 18, it's time to take a look at what other RPG reviewers thought of this guide to horror.
The last few D&D books had a lot for DMs. Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft tops them all. Players will get a lot out of it, too, but VRGtR is a feast of useful, imagination-sparking material—and that's not entirely limited to those who like horror.
From the start, Beadle & Grimm's has set a high standard for their luxury editions of D&D adventures. With its Legendary Edition of Curse of Strahd, they just exceeded those standards, and I don't say that lightly. To explain why, let's start with the box.
Candlekeep Mysteries is out and so are a lot of reviews. Let's take a look at what other critics think of D&D's literary adventure anthology and how it compares to my E.N. World review.
Candlekeep Mysteries is an absolute gift for DMs. Candlekeep is a citadel on the Sword Coast that houses the largest library and collection of knowledge in all of Faerun. To enter Candlekeep one must donate a book or scroll it doesn't already possess.
Monsters of the City: Sins and Virtues by Cawood Publishing takes a different approach to monster manuals for 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons. Most creature compendiums just list the monsters alphabetically or by category. MotCSaV organizes its content very differently.
If you've been eyeing the various Beadle & Grimm's luxury editions of D&D 5E adventures and wondering if they're worth it—I have bad news for your budget. B&G's Silver Edition of Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden definitely adds to and enhances the latest D&D adventure.
Now that Tasha's Cauldron of Everything has been out a bit, we wanted to take a look at the overall reactions to D&D's latest compilation of rule options, subclasses, DM advice, etc. So let's see how other sites rank the new book in comparison to our review.
If time has gotten away from you, 2020's delivery issues are going to make your holiday gift buying more difficult. This list can help! A lot of the options on this list can be purchased digitally to bypass pandemic-related shipping delays.
The latest official Dungeons & Dragons' supplement is the Dungeon Master's Screen Wilderness Kit, arriving slightly after Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, but clearly timed to work with it. However, this is a general wilderness adventure supplement, not one specifically for Icewind Dale or other frozen locations.
Tasha's Cauldron of Everything is the latest optional rule book for 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons but this “optional” book is very likely to become a must-have for most DMs and players. In fact, it's possible that it's the single more useful 5E supplement so far, but I'm getting ahead of myself.
