I've not used them often as a DM, but they featured strongly in the longest-running AD&D campaign that I've ran. In an AD&D PBEM in which I've been playing since 2007, there's one character that is psionic and has some quite powerful abilities.

An interesting perspective. Personally, I consider the whole of the rules fair game for hacking, but I can see the player-facing material being considered differently.

I've voted 576 as well. All my GH campaigns have started in that year. I've always lifted tons of stuff from later materials, but never really adopted the official timeline.
