I run AD&D and B/X. What's the question again?

I think the caller could have been a residual from the wargaming days. I saw the Prime video about Arneson (First Campaign?) and they showed how the old wargames were run with the judge (DM) sitting in an entirely different area. The "Caller" would bring to the judge notes with every "teams"...

Lots of great comments on 1e. As someone who wants to start sharing my homebrewed adventures with a community of players (yes, and publish them for a few bucks), I realize that I'm going to have to make the move to 5e, or even just wait for this new version of D&D to come out. I hate to admit...

D&D HAT was a breathe of fresh air! Original movie. No superheroes. I will see it a second time in the theater. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Saw it in the movie theater. I'm a B/E, 1E player. I enjoyed the movie immensely. Well done! Should be a hit. Every D&D player will enjoy it.

Thanks for coming to my defense, but I think the second responder deserves the benefit of the doubt. I'm not sure it was meant to crap all over. But I feel you. I'm a Knight of 1e and will defend its honor to the death!

I agree with the original poster...and disagree. Many of the TSR modules literally start at the doorstep of some ruin or dungeon or a keep just a hop skip and jump away from a cave complex. Many people literally started their games that way. But, as characters started to survive and level up...

Battered and bruised, but tried and true. Ain't anyone going to take away my 1e. I love basic/expert, too, but find nothing more satisfying than flipping and turning, now finding and scanning, through those AD&D rulebooks. Arguing about the rules is a feature, not a flaw. So to all you haters...
