WOIN OLD - Abjure - Breaching

I think you might be right :)

WOIN Do I need more than OLD for a setting with steampunk elements?

NOW has rules for mutations (X-Men style), vehicle combat, organisations, cybernetics, and Chi based martial arts. It also has a list of modern firearms, which includes wild west era firearms (WOIN Gear lists these as well) It also has moderns careers that may be useful (check them out on WOIN...

    WOIN Hex vulnerability and SOAK

Ahh. I think I get it. I would say that the natural SOAK would still work as it's only lost if the vulnerability is natural in origin. So if a creature has SOAK 5 vs Acid and a Hex spell added 1d6 vulnerability vs Acid, I would say that the SOAK 5 would still apply. I'm not sure if anyone...

    WOIN Hex vulnerability and SOAK

Is this about if vulnerabilities can stack? E.g. If you have a natural vulnerability 2d6 and a Hex is used targeting the same damage for 2d6, would you get a 4d6 damage bonus? That's a puzzler :(

Now is the time for Enworld to expand into an untapped market!

I'm 55 and WOIN is my favorite system. NOW is basically every TV show and Movie I loved from the 70's & 80's in a single system.

WOIN NOW: How many actions does Suppressive Fire use?

Spray & Strafe are attacks, but Suppressive Fire is a defensive buff. A chosen ally is automatically granted COVER, giving a -2d6 penalty to any attacker (the COVER penalty is increase by 1d6 if an "auto" weapon is used). It also makes the ally immune to Overwatch, as overwatch is only...

    WOIN Hex vulnerability and SOAK

I think a Hex spell vulnerability wouldn't negate SOAK as it is not a "natural" vulnerability. Only the bonus damage dice are used.

Does damage bypass soak if Vital Defense is targetted?

There is a passage on page 147 of OLD v1.2 that best describes attacks vs VITAL DEFENSE. There are two types of attack that are rolled against VITAL DEFENSE: Area and Constitutional. Area attacks do NOT ignore SOAK and include grenades, cones of flame, etc. Constitutional attacks DO ignore...

    WOIN Hex vulnerability and SOAK

Both would be in effect, but that does means that some creatures can be killed quicker than others. E.g. Skeletons (a 4d6 creature) would have SOAK 9 and 24 Health which would be tough to take down without building up a lot of attack bonus dice and switching some of them to damage. But using...

WOIN OLD - Abjure - Breaching

I'm confused as to how this works. The text says "This gives the target a +1d6 die bonus per 2 MP to attribute checks made to resist or breach a spell effect of the specified type", but how does that work when MAGIC attack are again DEFENSE stats, not opposed attribute checks? What have I missed?

    WOIN Hex vulnerability and SOAK

I think the SOAK is only negated if it is a natural vulnerability rather than an enforced one. At least that's my interpretation.

WOIN [NEW] Starship Construction rules for Class 0 ships?

It was in Eons #54 "Small Ships". It's also available at the EN World Store.

WOIN Magic and trading attack dice

I think the damage dice trade is to emulate a more difficult targeted attack to gain more damage. I guess it could apply to making a more difficult spell casting with the same effect. It's in keeping with the risk vs reward idea behind the mechanic, so I would say yes. :)

    WOIN Equipment Questions

The WWII special forces / SOE garottes sound close, but I guess in a fantasy setting bow string would be a better fit than piano wire or cheese wire.

    WOIN Equipment Questions

The only weapon I know of as a garrote (or garrote vil) is a weapon, most often a handheld ligature of chain, rope, scarf, wire or fishing line, used to strangle a person. Wikipedia Entry I assumed this is what it was referring to.

    WOIN Equipment Questions

There is no real description of how the Garotte works. Should there be special rules? Maybe... on a successful grab attack does damage each round until the grab is broken? There is no real description of how the crowbar works mechanically Does this give a bonus or remove a penalty? Cold...

    WOIN Creature Types

Creature types in the 1.2 rules are a little confusing. Some races/creatures have multiple types. How does this effect spell casting vs creature type? The types listed for PCs are different for NPCs. Orc & Goblin PCs are goblinoid humanoid, but the NPCs are fey goblinoid (and listed under...

WOIN OLD - Knight errant questions

Good question. I've assumed that this just applies to the natural damage type of regular weapons and unarmed attacks. That way magic weapons, infused weapons and spells wouldn't be effected.

WOIN Questions about Abjure & Inflict spells

A few questions on Abjure & Inflict spells. The rules for Inflict say... ... can also cause the following conditions: Blind, Deaf, Fatigued, Pain, Poisoned, Sick ... You inflict one of the allowed conditions (listed above)... The secret needed for the spell depends on the associated element...

    WOIN Infusion spells vs Ajuration

So in that scenario the original type should be ignored and the new type would be used for resolving damage. If a weapon does piercing damage, but is infused with holy, does a target that is immune to piercing ignore the immunity and take holy damage?
