D&D General What it means for a race to end up in the PHB, its has huge significance

D&D 5E Good 1st/2nd level spell to combine with Portent?

yes. melf 's AA is horrible spell, even with crit is bad, might be circumstantially OK if target is caster with Conc spell active to force 2nd save in next round.

D&D 5E Good 1st/2nd level spell to combine with Portent?

if it's 20, then Chromatic orb, might then be worth upcasting to 2nd level if target has vulnerability(that is then 8d8 damage, 16d8 damage with vulnerability)

D&D General If you could be any D&D species in real life…

As mentioned, changeling would be very useful. another is Astral Elf 4 hours extra per day that you can be useful. teleport. skill+tool or weapon on demand every day. cantrip, perception, darkvision are just gravy on it.

    D&D General Diabetes in dnd

Don't know how to reply to this without stepping into that "beautiful" field of eugenics... ugh... Baldness; does magic recognize bald "gene" as "defective" or "normal"? Obesity: would magic remove the unneeded mass of fat, or would it change genes to make your metabolism faster and slow down...

D&D General What it means for a race to end up in the PHB, its has huge significance

I played a drow rogue(4E) and drow sorcerer(3.5) but in one campaign, Out of the abyss, friend made a drow ranged with favored enemy drow and favored terrain Underdark. we smirked at the metagame, but since those ranger features are horrible unless used 100% of the time, we let it slide. But...

D&D General What it means for a race to end up in the PHB, its has huge significance

still far superior to tassha's options of: skill or darkvision it's still one page worth of text. yes that is true about 90% of what races give is here in some capacity. so they make up their own racial features? min-maxers gonna min-max, nothing will change that, that is why options what I...

D&D General What it means for a race to end up in the PHB, its has huge significance

not really. It literally takes one page of space that could be a problem, yes. but this is to not include very special racial features for balance sake. too simple and really not flexible at all. it's either 1 or 2. that is not flexible. that is always the best starting position.

    D&D General Diabetes in dnd

I would say that if its caused by pathogen: virus, bacteria, fungi or higher parasite, I would say Remove disease If it's genetic cause, I would say Heal or Regenerate.

D&D General What it means for a race to end up in the PHB, its has huge significance

for that I would suggest a system similar to my homebrew custom lineage: https://www.enworld.org/threads/custom-lineage-for-5-5e-build-your-own-race.691113/

D&D General What it means for a race to end up in the PHB, its has huge significance

elves: proficiency+expertise in Perception half elves: proficiency in Perception and one free skill humans: proficiency in two skills this can be once simple mechanical and lore difference between the three.

    D&D (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

you cannot break the game without knowing the game. aren't you doing that by saying that powergaming is inferior playstyle choice? that's the general idea. it would be kind of dumb to roleplay THE Legolas, unless the campaign is recreating LotR. but yeah, point is making THE BEST archer rules...

D&D 5E Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

if you want a crunchier Ranger with pickable abilities for all levels: Ranger: Class features: Talent: ranger receives a large number of Ranger talents, description later on Fighting style: pick one fighting style Feat: pick one feat that you have prerequirements Extra attack: make...

    D&D (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

combat part of D&D is a wargame, and it needs some kind of balance between character classes. and roleplay can be whatever players want it to be. in most RP situations rolls are not even required, social rolls are just shortcut for "cant be bothered to talk to NPC for 5 minutes." Have an...

    D&D (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

that is not powergamer, that is spotlight hogger. but sometimes those 2 overlap.

D&D 5E Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

keep Conc trait, but it cannot be lost by damage. you can concentrate on number of spell levels with Conc trait equal to your highest spell slot. I.E. as 9th level caster you can conc on a 5th level spell or a 4th and 1st level spell or 3rd level and two 1st level spells. when you are...

D&D 5E Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

I do not have anything against Conc mechanic to prevent stacking, but losing it on damage should probably go on some classes.

D&D 5E Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

guess the biggest gripe people have about the ranger spellcasting is spell components. An essentially stealth class that needs to flap like a spastic and scream from top of their lungs while stalking and hunting is huge suspension of disbelief. add to that Conc mechanics that you can lose the...
