D&D 5E Monte Cook Leaves WotC - No Longer working on D&D Next [updated]

I'm not saying it should. We will never know the whole truth to this departure, nor what the actual plan was when 3.0 was being planned. The claim about 3.5 may be incorrect, but it always sounded to me like they purposely released an inferior product just so they could release the better one...

D&D 5E Monte Cook Leaves WotC - No Longer working on D&D Next [updated]

D&D 4E Showing the Math: Proving that 4e’s Skill Challenge system is broken (math heavy)

Without going back and reading 17 pages of stuff, how many variables were taken into account with the formula? Because initiative can be a big factor. Ex: Let's say you have 6 players in a group and in a skill challenge ( DC 20 ) their best associated skill bonuses are such: 8/9/10/11/12/13...

Yeah, I definitely see errata coming out on this soon. I like the concept, but not the game play. What is stalker0's system?

D&D 4E Showing the Math: Proving that 4e’s Skill Challenge system is broken (math heavy)

It only decreases difficulty at the 4 success and 6 success level. With a 10 or 12 success, it increases difficulty. Right now, the level 5 complexity, worth more xp than the level 1, is actually easier to attain than the level 1.

D&D 4E Showing the Math: Proving that 4e’s Skill Challenge system is broken (math heavy)

It seems that a better way (assuming that the +5 pertains to individual skill checks and not those associated with a skill challenge) would be to have a static 4 failures and simply increase the successes needed to increase the 'complexity' of the challenge.
