As a DM,: Just like Inspiration, I would ignore Luck.

Only reason I play 5th is because it’s easier to find games for. If I run it, I modify it a bit. If I can truly play my games my way its using OSR like OSE or Shadowdark. I like to keep things simple and frankly stuff like BX are way easier to play and run then 5E

Yeah as much as I appreciate the effort a TLDR at the end to summarize those of us with short attention spans.

To be fair, Faerun is a much more popular setting and had a whole lot more to lose. 4th Ed’s 100 year bump killed 90% of the iconics in the setting. Even New York Times best selling Drizzt crew got mostly obliterated and honestly never really recovered despite the resurrections. But yeah WotC...

I'd be fine with them kicking the timeline up 100 years and saying "This is how it is now after some change", but what they like to do is just recon things and say "This is how it's always been."

Speaking as an older gamer, all the nostalgia from Greyhawk to the cartoon is just a big plus in my book. Also helps offset stuff like the dragon designs etc
