D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

It was great. We were down one player, which always sucks, but the session itself was fun as heck. The party negotiated with a tribe of kobolds for passage through their territory to a "backdoor" into the mines the party were trying to sneak into in order to resolve a hostage situation where...

D&D 5E Do you ever roll for monster HPs in 5E?

Oh man, the -itis is nothing to mess with.

Didn’t i comment on that thread linking to this one? Maybe I just thought about doing it. 🤷🏾‍♂️

TSR TOEE: What happens when the party ignores the Moathouse?

My version of Lareth is an evil earth cultist, but isn't really human! He is a construct pulled from the same vat of evil mud that the party paladin of vengeance was pulled out of (except the PC only suspects his true origins - he has an ex-cultist background modified from A5E). Lareth looks...

TSR TOEE: What happens when the party ignores the Moathouse?

I think t Yeah, I think if the party had actually used Hommlet as a base of operations (as I thought they would and early on they actually discussed) they would have probably checked out the moathouse by now, but by following leads they are further and further afield and have not gone back to...

D&D 5E How do you handle randomly rolling for stats

This is where I say "stat draft." But back when I used to have people roll (I have never used point buy or arrays), we did 4d6dL in order x2 and then pick the set you prefer, if either sets modifiers added up to less than +1, you could re-roll it if you want.

TSR TOEE: What happens when the party ignores the Moathouse?

So I am running a very loose adaptation of T1-4, starting with the Village of Hommlet, of course, but despite the characters being on the verge of 4th level, they still have not investigated the many clues and rumors always pointing back to the Moathouse. Instead, because I run a sandbox style...

D&D (2024) How Does Greyhawk Fit In To The New Edition?

Exactly. I technically had no tieflings or tabaxi as player options in my current setting, which is humanocentric. But I have one player who in our first game together wanted to play a tiefling! And in the second? A tabaxi. Did I say no? Nope. I said, "You can play those, but you have to...

    D&D (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

Yes, as most of the opinions about feats expressed in this thread have been. I will know the number when I have adapted them to my taste. ;)

    D&D (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

I guess I'll figure out how many feats are enough if and when I finally see the 2024 PHB and see if I like what they've done them (I haven't been following UA) because I don't like them as they currently exist and have considered re-writing them all (to give them all prerequisites and put them...

D&D (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

I used to have this argument in 2000 when I first joined these boards, though happily I don't need to have it as much anymore, but. . . "these types of issues" have always been a thing in gaming. It just depended on whose voice was being amplified and whose voice was being heard.

D&D 5E Long time players and 5e’s success

I thought you meant literal immense sea mammals at first and was like DUH! Gamers are probably bad for the environment while whales have important ecological niches to fill! 😂🐋

D&D General Fifty Years of Dungeons & Dragons, collection of essays published by MIT Press

I was curious if Aaron Trammell had a piece in this and lo and behold he does. He is a former colleague whose scholarly work focuses on RPGs.

The "I Didn't Comment in Another Thread" Thread

I hate when you get sucked into a stupid argument and end up being stupid yourself. And by "you," I mean "me."
