See, this is exactly why Rogue are underpowered for having such combat-powers. Cuz Spells always win in so many out-of-combat encounters. Skills, something that should have a chance to fail, shouln't cost too many combat-powers like this.
I don't disagree. +2/+3 all the time has always been good. It's just getting less and less valuable when it being not enough in crucial checks. Their current skill powers just can't compensate their damage anymore, especially when the damage floor has been raised in OneD&D while Rogue benefits...
Actually, you're the one who's been refusing to see the MATH, I've already write those down on my post of How Second Wind Better Than Rogue In Skills before Level7, and you refused to even look about it, and I have no interest repeating myself again. But since you're asking, here's what it is...
You see, skill proficiencies provides you nothing but merely a +2/+3 in your checks. You're only better than others in two specific skill with 10%~15%. Besides that, Bard, Ranger also has Expertise, JoAT, PWT, and a D10(5.5) on failed skills checks are much stronger than Expertise statistically...
First of all, Treantmonk's Video was months ago while other Martials weren't boosted like now.
Secondly, if those numbers in the video are "74% over baseline", then the problem is other Martials and Half-Casters are doing "150~200% over baseline". The baseline means nothing if the gap has been...
That also might work, but Skill System has just been...5e's Skill System has been too DM-depandent, and its ceiling doesn't allow Rogue to be that special as an individual class anymore. A Ranger or a Dex Fighter with the new Second Wind are also be able to do a good job in Rogue-things, like...
How being the bottom in combats and doing bit better in skills makes them the top? I don't see how Bard and Ranger worse than a Rogue as Experts, both in and out of combats.
There're been guys on reddit and other forums calculating every Martial's DPR, and sadly Rogue has been the bottom in OneD&D. Almost every OneD&D Martial does a doubled DPR than the Rogue, while they're getting boosted in skills (which is great) and doing decent out-of-combat utilities, you can...
Rogue's been a really awkward position right now. They're having a quite tough time, especially for many players who might pay more attention to balancing and numbers in the game.
I know many players who play Rogue aren't looking for DPR, but their advantage of out-of-combat uitility has been...
Changing Metamagic during Long Rest with three options available, which I think the best change to Sorcerer in 2024, has been reverted back to 2014 edition with only TWO options available, and players can only change it when they level.
I really just don't get why. No players ever complained...
