I'm an A5e fan through and through, everything it does differently from WotC is an improvement as far as I'm concerned. That being said, I am happy to incorporate elements from a variety of 5e games, even WotC, if I like them.

I think full weapon access would be more appropriate as a feat or a at least mid-level class feature than right out of the gate. Makes a lot more sense to me.
Seems like another either/or scenario for you. You and I are I think just too different in what we want out of gaming. I've described several methods of compromise in this thread, but if your way insists upon getting to choose multiple specific superpowers from a vast list at every level up...
