I have no doubt that they're going to keep pushing FR. I'd think that they'd use Greyhawk to show how a DM can keep it grounded if you don't want your players to be things like Kenku Spore Wardens.
I like the idea that the books may tag things as core classes and races.

It's not a man or a woman. It's a bit of art that was used in a commercial product. It's a player's character at best. For Larry, it can be a man, and for everyone else, it's whoever they want it to be.
Being entirely serious, I think Wizkids/WotC took fantastic artistic license there, and they could have also done two versions of the mini. Honestly, it's beefy enough that they probably would have had to give it a beard to make it seem more masculine. As it is, it can just be male with huge pecs.

I think it's interesting to identify what has to be done to do an SRD. I would think it would start with a text dump of a rule set from a book - I'm sure they have plain text copy of all of it by now, then a big edit, and then review for trademark and copyright issues.
