D&D (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

WotC says art is not final.

We don't have barbarians lifting giants and tossing them 100 feet,
Batman say hi.

Not all superheroes actually have superhuman powers. Black Widow (movie version) is a pretty good fit for 7th level monk (she has evasion).

 Although, come to think, Karlach throwing goblins and barrels of smokepowder across the battlefield is common enough in BG3.

Sure, here they are from the PAX East panel: the Fighter image with the Dwarf is the equivalent to the Wizard image in the OP here, and each Subclass will apparently get an inset image similar to this Champion:

Thank you for posting these. I hadn't seen the champion and it is truly excellent. Easily my favourite of the new art. ❤️
The dwarf is a bit too WoWy for my liking but, eh... 🤷

5e needs solid mechanics for doing stuff like this. We've have had about seven thousand martials vs casters threads, but what I think the biggest thing the martials are missing that would easily improve their feel is an easy to use framework for common action hero stunts like this.

Jesus christ i only came to this thread because Google suggested it and holy hell, so many people here trying to gatekeep DnD and nitpick a bunch of silly garbage
Saying I e.g. like the art of Todd Lockwood better than that of Erol Otus is not gatekeeping. Neither is saying that I prefer a less superheroic style.

The whole point of modern DnD and the reason why it's so popular is literally the superhero fantasy.
oh, so you play it for that and extrapolate from there, got it…. you do realize that most campaigns end before level 10 or so, which is not all that superheroic yet…

It's fine if you don't like that, but don't complain when the official content goes that way, because that's what keeps the game thriving now.
I am allowed to express my opinion and do not have to either shut up or praise whatever WotC presents, thank you very much

Welcome to the forum ;)

i think there is a strong tendency to think that the way something was when you were introduced to it or you fell in love with it is the ideal form of that thing. It's not. It's just nostalgia. I'm not saying it isn't "good", but there is nothing inherently special about that 5 year slice of that 50 year old thing, except that it is special to you.

D&D art in particular is something that has changed dramatically and regularly. Look no further than the beautiful Art & Arcana book for proof. It is changing now and will change again. get used to it. or do yourself a favor and just keep playing the version of the game with the art you love.

There is one in the DMG (my DM uses it all the time in our game); however, it is not located in one place. It is mixed throughout the book in different areas. I hope the 2024 DMG improves on this.

FYI, my DM made a cheat sheet where he put all of the useful improv info in the DMG on one page.

Again I didn't blame the artists, I mentioned the art director. Have a good day.
I'm aware that you have. If you read my post, you can see that blame assignment is not something I am concerned with.

My key point is that we don't have any real evidence yet for your claim re: "house style". Especially as this piece of art is quite typical of Billy Christian's recent work, rather than obviously confirmative to an art director's vision. Equally, if we take the inverse view and assume the art director isn't presenting a vision but simply picking artists already in line with one (as is quite common though both occur), I would respectfully submit that we simply don't have the evidence to support that claim at this stage.

As far as I know, all the 5E 2024 art we've seen so far is:

1) PHB cover dwarf fighter
2) Glowy McWizard here
3) Silver dragon ticker tape parade
4) Landscape art for four backgrounds
5) Tough Champion Fighter lady

The latter two seem here: Take a Peek At the 2024 D&D Player's Handbook

Now if I have missed some definite 2024 art, I apologise and would be delighted if anyone could point me two it, but on that basis of these five pieces we're kind of seeing at least three, perhaps four distinct "styles". The dwarf puts me in mind of Easley's approach, actually. Glowy McWizard is this heroic figure of a different kind, more akin to say an exaggerated digital Clyde Caldwell. The solver dragon and landscapes have a similar style to each other which is nice if a little more generic and concept-art-ish - harder to pin down without higher quality images(can't view ATM). And the tough lady is pretty similar to the current D&D style with perhaps a little more grit.

So it's possible your theory may end up being correct, but we need more evidence.

I'm not sure what you're referring to here - do you know the pages? I found 5E to be terribly lacking here personally, but perhaps Iissed something.
